Sangha Capital Investor & Founder Gathering

Last month, our founder, Gokce Gizer Clover was soaking up the Ibiza sun at Sangha Capital’s annual investor and founder gathering, alongside their thriving group of portfolio companies.

A community of entrepreneurs and investors, Sangha seeks to shape the future of finance and technology by investing in companies that do well by doing good, and to demonstrate there is a whole universe of incredible talent, technologies and companies that can truly make a profound impact in solving the world’s problems.

Though still a relatively new fund, one of Sangha’s portfolio companies has already had an exit! Calyptia is a leading provider of observability pipeline solutions. We heard from founder Eduardo Silva about Calyptia’s acquisition by Chronosphere, the leading cloud native observability platform.

Sister cofounders Carolina and Berta Casas Forga kicked off the event with an update and a fireside chat with Bill Tai on market trends.

The founders of each portfolio company then presented their progress in the past year, and what’s next for their venture.

The event also hosted special guest speakers who shared their own unique experiences. Former Zoom CPO Oded Gal spoke to the significance of being intentional about team culture, and NBA Champion Festus Ezeli shared an inspiring story on the roles that compassion, mindfulness, joy, and competition played in the success of his career.

Gokce had the pleasure of kicking off the first day’s introductions with some practices to get everyone connected on a deeper level more quickly and to activate their parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). The activation of the PNS enabled attendees to become more open, relaxed and engaged, and most importantly more intentional about their time together.

Founder Circle

Gokce also hosted a special Founder Circle for Sangha’s portfolio companies creating a space for them to share the euphoria and terror parts of the founder journey with each other.

It was energizing to see the founders open up to their peers, sharing their challenges alongside their highlights and proud moments, celebrating each other and offering support and guidance to one another.

“Having a safe space to learn from other founders and express my own challenges and get feedback is life changing.”

- Jenny Shao, Founder of Robin

“The founder circle was very valuable, we got amazing feedback from our portfolio founders. As a VC, it allowed us to provide the founders with time dedicated to them, specially hearing from other founders and the valuable feedback from GG! The Founder Circle helps founders express and learn from other founders and relate to others that might be going through the same or that had similar experiences and can share how they dealt with it.

Founders felt appreciated and found the session very appreciated by everyone. We will definitely do many more of these!”

- Carolina and Berta, Cofounders of Sangha Capital

“Move your mountains not just for yourself,
but to show others it can be done.”

Festus Ezeli shared this quote while taking us through his journey from being kicked out of the high school basketball team to winning the NBA Championship on the Golden State Warriors team.

Festus Ezeli and Carolina Casas Forga

The four values that really shaped him were instilled in him by their coach: Compassion, Mindfulness, Joy, and Competition

Not what you might expect the values of a basketball team to be but perhaps what makes them an extraordinary team.

Festus is committed to giving back to the youth, offering them the same opportunities that once helped him overcome obstacles. He used basketball as a launchpad to achieve remarkable success and is now working on his Vision C initiative to empower Cameroonian youth through basketball. Zoom’s 200 Million Daily Meetings
and the Future of Human Interaction

Former Zoom CPO, Oded Gal and Bill Tai (Zoom’s seed investor) walked us through the journey of the amazing company that is now a part of our daily lives, improving the way we communicate, collaborate and connect with each other.

Currently, 200 million daily meetings are held on Zoom and Oded attributes the company’s success to the intentional team culture since day one and their ability to build trust. He said that the strength of their culture, speed and innovation comes from working together in the office. This enabled cross-team collaboration, for sales and product teams to engage and interact with each other, do product demos and share feedback effectively.

Oded shared his views on how technology is shaping human interaction, and his vision of technology fostering a new level of connection and empathy, going beyond physical and emotional barriers.
